Block Billing
How we handle fees for services OHIP doesn't cover
OHIP covers most of your medical needs, but some services aren't covered. Examples include phone prescription renewals, sick notes, notes recommending physiotherapy, massage, or chiropractic care, and insurance forms.
These uninsured services take significant time and resources to provide, and demand for them has grown in recent years. Payment for these services is the responsibility of the patient or the agency requesting them.
Two Ways to Cover These Fees
Annual Block fee
Pay one predictable fee that covers uninsured services for the full year. Preferred by many of our patients.
Pay As You Go
Pay for each uninsured service as needed, in full, at the time it's provided. A receipt will be given.
Our fees follow the schedule recommended by the Ontario Medical Association. If you're not able to pay for an uninsured service, you can request a fee exemption. We understand that some circumstances call for it.
If you have questions or concerns about block billing, please speak with your physician at your next appointment.
